Commission for PwD and Reduced Mobility of Natal visits ISD

On Wednesday, 10/23, the Commission for the Defense of the Rights of People with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility from the municipality of Natal visited the installations of the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS) It's from Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), in Macaíba (RN), where they were received by the General Director of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), Reginaldo Freitas Junior; by the CEPS Manager, lilian lisbon; and by the Professors-Researchers of the IIN-ELS, Fabrício Brasil and André Dantas, in addition to Master's and Scientific Initiation students.

On the occasion, the President of this Commission, Júlia Arruda, stated: “We are here proving how it is possible, yes, to have the integration of education, health, rehabilitation and here is a field that can be better explored, better known by society and also that allows other people to have their full rehabilitation. I'm really excited about what we saw today. It is possible, yes, to have a partnership with SUS, health and public education of quality and excellence”.

Visitors were able to learn about applications of research in neuroengineering to improve the quality of life of People with Disabilities.

Councilwoman Divaneide Basílio commented: “Perceiving that this Institute exists, realizing its importance, seeing the structure, the professionals, getting to know the equipment and the way of working is, in fact, a great opportunity and it is for us to think about what alternatives exist, that we need to think together on how to strengthen initiatives like this one”.

Councilor Robson Carvalho congratulated the ISD team and concluded after the visit ended: “The first step was to get to know each other and now it is to strengthen ties even more”.

The Santos Dumont Institute recognizes the importance of expanding dialogue with the government so that the work is strengthened and can contribute to the construction of public policies in favor of society as a whole.
