Posted in July 5, 2022

Representatives of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), the Agricultural School of Jundiaí (EAJ) and the Augusto Severo Scientific and Technological Park (PAX), teaching, research, technology and innovation institutions located in the rural area of the municipality of Macaíba (RN), met with representatives of the Public Power this Monday morning (4) to discuss improvements in the road and safety infrastructure in the area that encompasses the institutions. Among the requests are: highway lighting, recovery and widening of the asphalt road, and the installation of speed reducing radars in view of the large circulation of cyclists in the area.

The meeting was attended by the General Director of ISD, Reginaldo Freitas Júnior; the manager of the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (Anita), Lilian Lira Lisboa; the Administrative Director of ISD, Jovan Gadioli; the PAX Coordinator at the State Secretariat for Economic Development (SEDEC), Olavo Bueno Oliveira; the PAX coordinator, professor Ângela Paiva; representatives of the UFRN Infrastructure Superintendence, Ilzenete Menezes and Túlio Costa; Macaíba's Development Secretary, Auri Alaécio Simplício and the secretariat's servant, Aristela Tatiany; Macaíba's Secretary of Environment and Urbanism, Billy Jean Viturino; professors Márcio Dias, Flávio Elano and the director of EAJ, Ivan Max Freire; ISD maintenance engineer, Jobson Oliveira.

In addition to the requests for improving the infrastructure of the highways, the institutions also plead for public safety in the region. Every day, at least 1,800 people linked to the ISD and the EAJ circulate in the region. In addition, the PAX, which is in the process of adapting its physical structure to start operating, will have space to house 800 people for events in the auditoriums, with a daily circulation forecast of 2,000 people in the place.

“This meeting marks the beginning of an articulation of the ISD in its two units (Anita and IIN-ELS), of the Agricultural School of Jundiaí and of the Augusto Severo Scientific and Technological Park, with proposals for the Public Power to provide the infrastructure and security necessary for access for these institutions. This means recovery and widening of the asphalt road, particularly the RN-160, street lighting, speed bumps, considering that this road has intense cyclist traffic, and ostensible policing. They are equipment that promote local development for the State and the municipality, and that is why it is important to give the required attention to these issues”, says the Administrative Director of ISD, Jovan Gadioli.

The director of EAJ, Ivan Max, says that the union of efforts of the institutions is important to give weight to the claims and find solutions that meet the needs of people who circulate daily in the area. “Infrastructure issues affect all these institutions. When we join forces, we gain more strength in the process. Issues related to access infrastructure, roads, for example, serve the ISD, the Agricultural School, the PAX and the citizens of Macaíba, in addition to the people who attend these institutions, whether as students, patients or employees”, says Max.

According to the coordinator of the PAX project, Ângela Paiva, the meeting was important to ensure that the institutions that work in the area remain articulated to fulfill their social responsibilities. “The presence of Secretaries Billy Viturino and Auri Simplício was very relevant for clarifications, for them to already be aware of the demands and help in the expected solutions. It was a very productive and fruitful meeting for these institutions to stay together and articulate, aiming at fulfilling their respective social responsibilities”, he said.
